IMPROVE YOUR SKIN WITH PLATELET-RICH PLASMA REJUVENATION

regenerative solutions in naples, fl & surrounding areas

At Time 4 U Med Spa, board-certified Dr. Lisa Gulcher is proud to offer advanced platelet-rich plasma (PRP) skin rejuvenation treatments to her patients. When injected into the skin or applied topically following microneedling or laser resurfacing procedures, PRP can dramatically improve the quality, texture and appearance of your skin with few side effects and no downtime. PRP remodels aged or damaged dermal tissue from the inside out for better skin from within. Schedule a consultation with us today to learn more about this unique and effective treatment.

What Is Platelet-Rich Plasma?

Platelet-rich plasma is a natural serum derived from blood that is rich in regenerative growth factors and healing proteins. During a PRP treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn from the patient and placed in a centrifuge to isolate the nutrient-rich plasma from the unneeded blood cells. The PRP can then be loaded into a syringe and injected or applied topically to the skin for use in rejuvenating procedures. PRP treatments are minimally invasive and completely autologous, meaning everything used in the procedure is derived from the patient’s own blood. As autologous procedures, PRP treatments have no risk of rejection, allergic reactions or adverse side effects.

PRP originally emerged in orthopedic medicine as a regenerative treatment for healing bone fractures, managing arthritis and recovering from sports-related injuries. Recently, PRP has been popularized as an effective tool in cosmetic medicine for combatting the effects of aging, rejuvenating skin and even fighting genetic hair loss. PRP’s main advantage over other cosmetic treatments lies in its ability to heal damaged tissue and stimulate new collagen and elastin production. While popular treatments like dermal fillers and wrinkle relaxers can hold signs of aging at bay, PRP treatments can repair photo-aged skin for natural-looking results without downtime.

What Can Platelet-Rich Plasma Skin Rejuvenation Treat?

PRP can be applied throughout the face, neck or décolletage and may be used to target:

Dark under-eye circles

Crow’s feet

Acne scars

Smoker’s lines

Nasolabial wrinkles

Horizontal neck lines

Facial skin laxity

Fine lines and wrinkles

Volume loss

Rosacea

Uneven skin tone

Sun-damaged skin

PRP stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibers, strengthening the skin’s underlying support and regenerating aged or damaged tissue. This increased production gradually thickens the skin and delivers results that improve over the course of several months.

Who Is a Good Candidate for PRP Skin Rejuvenation?

Good candidates for PRP treatments are patients interested in regenerative methods to manage the health and appearance of their skin. With limited side effects, a low risk of complications and no downtime, most adult patients make excellent candidates. Patients should have realistic expectations about the treatment and their results. Patients should also understand that PRP does not produce immediate results and that it may take several weeks for improvements to become apparent.

Dr. Gulcher can determine how PRP can help you achieve your desired results during an in-person consultation and evaluation of your skin.

What Should I Expect During My Treatment?

Because PRP skin rejuvenation has so many potential uses, every patient’s treatment will vary according to their unique needs and desired results. PRP can be both injected into the deep layers of the skin or applied topically following a microneedling or laser facial resurfacing procedure. Both types of PRP treatments will essentially start in the same manner. A small amount of the patient’s blood will be taken and centrifuged to create the PRP. Once prepared, how exactly the PRP is used will vary.

PRP Injections

During an injectable PRP rejuvenation procedure, the prepared serum is loaded into a syringe. A topical anesthetic is applied to the patient’s face or desired treatment area to provide a comfortable procedure with minimal pain. The PRP is then strategically injected in multiple sites throughout the target area to ensure even coverage and smooth results.

PRP injections allow for the growth factors and other beneficial nutrients to reach beneath the epidermis and deep into the underlying layers of the dermis. Once injected, the PRP sets to work rebuilding the skin’s foundation and increasing the body’s production of collagen and elastin.

Topical PRP Application

PRP is often used as part of a two-step facial rejuvenation process alongside microneedling or laser procedures. The PRP is generally applied to the skin after a facial resurfacing appointment, although it may also be used during the treatment itself. Following a microneedling session, the skin’s ability to absorb topical skincare products is dramatically increased, allowing the PRP to penetrate deeper into the skin. Patients who combine their laser resurfacing procedures with PRP can often enjoy a shorter recovery and minimized side effects.

What Are the Potential Side Effects of PRP Skin Rejuvenation?

PRP is safe and does produce any side effects itself, although any type of injectable treatment has inherent side effects. Following dermal PRP injections, patients may experience mild to moderate bruising, swelling and soreness. Topical application of PRP will not cause any additional side effects, although patients will experience some side effects from their microneedling or laser resurfacing treatment. During your consultation, Dr. Gulcher will discuss exactly what you can expect following your PRP appointment.

Does PRP Skin Rejuvenation Require Any Downtime?

PRP treatments do not require any downtime when completed on their own. Injection procedures may produce some visible side effects, and some patients may wish to stay home while they recover. Patients who receive PRP injections will also need to avoid exercise and overly strenuous activities for about three days. Topical PRP treatments will not require any downtime on their own, although the microneedling and laser resurfacing procedures that they are combined with can.

Following any type of PRP appointment, patients are free to return home and resume most normal activities. Dr. Gulcher will discuss any and all concerns with you before your treatment, including aftercare guidelines and how long you should expect your side effects to last.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

The number of PRP treatments necessary for optimal results will vary among each patient and depend on the method of use. In general, most patients need about two to three PRP injection sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart to experience a significant improvement in their skin, although changes may be apparent with a single appointment.

Patients who undergo microneedling or laser resurfacing treatments combined with topical PRP application can discuss how many appointments are necessary with Dr. Gulcher during their consultation. By combining their facial resurfacing procedures with PRP, patients often find their results improve and last longer, requiring less frequent treatment.

What Kind of Results Can Be Expected?

Following treatment, patients can expect their skin to appear radiant and feel refreshed. PRP injections increase collagen and elastin production, leading to tighter and firmer skin that improves for several months. Results may be apparent within a few weeks, although final results will not fully develop for six months.

Once the increased collagen and elastin have remodeled the patient’s skin, wrinkles and fine lines will appear softer, skin tone and texture will look and feel more even, loose skin will tighten, and acne scars will be reduced, along with numerous other benefits. Dr. Gulcher will outline exactly what kind of results you can expect during your consultation.

How Long Do Results Last?

PRP injections produce long-lasting results that will last one to two years. With few side effects and no downtime required, PRP injections can be performed as often as necessary for beautiful, clear skin year-round. Facial resurfacing treatments combined with topical PRP application can also be repeated for sustained results. Dr. Gulcher will help you create an individualized treatment plan that addresses your needs and ensures your skin looks its best for many years to come.

FREQUENTLY ASKED PRP plasma QUESTIONS

  • Is PRP Skin Rejuvenation safe?

PRP therapy is generally considered safe since it uses the patient's own blood, reducing the risk of allergic reactions or infections. However, as with any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects, such as bruising, swelling, or infection at the injection site.

  • How Long Does It Take to See Results from PRP Facial Rejuvenation?
